Maybelline Color Show Lipstick Review & Swatches: Orange Lion & Fuchsia Flare♥

Hello guys!

In honor of International Lipstick day, I am reviewing the Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in Orange Lion & Fuchsia Flare.

Product description on the company website:

Maybelline New York launches 32 new lipstick shades with the most stunning hues of red, pink, brown and mauve. They are vibrant moisture rich shades to suit all Indian skin tones. Enriched with ultra-care hydrating formula which gives your lips all day hydration. They are anti-oxidant and and heat resistant, which guarantees color integrity and does not even fade in extreme heat and humidity. Are you ready to show off your colorful sides?

Here’s why you will love it:

  • Enriched with ultra-care hydrating formula
  • 32 vibrant moisture rich shades
  • Lip color doesn’t fade in extreme heat and humidity
  • Shades to suit all Indian skin tones
  • Price: Rs 299/-

My take on the product:

These lipsticks have been around for a few months now, I hadn’t tried them earlier, so when Maybelline contacted me about expressing my thoughts on these lipsticks, I was pretty excited. Being completely honest, if they wouldn’t have sent it, I wouldn’t have picked these up for myself. I am a MAC lipstick addict and I believe nothing comes anywhere close to their lipsticks.

As mentioned, this range has around 32 shades, with various color families, red, pink, brown and mauve. I received two shades: Fuchsia Flare & Orange Lion. Given a choice, I would’ve gone for the same colors.

Orange Lion: This is a gorgeous shade of orange, very on trend at the moment. But don’t be scared of the brightness, it is very sheer, compared to Fuchsia Flare. I like it for the same fact, that it is sheer; anything darker and I would’ve been scared to bits on trying it on. Very moisturizing, feels great on the lips; almost like a tinted lip balm. A great day time lipstick, would look great with lots of shimmery bronzer!  This is how it looks on me.

Fuchsia Flare: This again is my-kinda-shade, gloriously pink. I mean, which girl doesn’t love PINK! In contrast to its counterpart, Orange Lion, this one is extremely pigmented. One swipe and you get beautiful opaque color. One downside though, it stains your lips! Some people wouldn’t mind it, but I personally don’t like that part. I am not a fan of lipstains and do not like my lipstick to stain either. Overall it is again very similar to the other one, hydrating and good color payoff. Here’s how this one looks on me

  • Pocket friendly
  • Chic packaging
  • Very moisturizing on lips; no need of separate lipbalm
  • Opaque color (Fuchsia Flare)
  • Wide color range
  • Easily available

  • Stains the lips
  • Not a fan of the smell

Overall rating: A

Sneakers that match your style♥

Style & comfort go hand-in-hand, and it’s no surprise that sneakers are the new stilletoes. They are an uber-chic addition to any outfit and can make effortlessly fashionable. Sometimes, the idea of pairing them with more feminine pieces in your wardrobe may sound crazy, but trust me these look as cute even with flirty girly dresses & skirts.

The trends these days prove that opposites attract, making things a harmonious balance of barbie meets casual-girl-next-door. Here are some of my favorite looks

What to pair with girly dresses?

Who wouldn’t love to pair these comfortable pair of gorgeousness with a floral dress? But be careful of not pairing sporty sneakers with long straight skirts. Instead opt for non-dressy ones such as canvas, wedge or slip-on ones in bright colors or prints to add to the glam factor.

What dresses to pair with sneakers?

Let’s look at the other side too. The best option here is to stick to girly sporty, structured dresses. One should avoid something that is too girly, like ruffles, lace, embroidery, etc.

Pay extreme attention to the prints & patters you match them with. Pair a printed dress with monochrome sneakers for a chic look. You could also pair it with a bright color to make your outfit pop.

So from lovely printed pieces to monochrome ones, everything can look cool with the correctly picked sneakers if styled and accessorized properly and worn with confidence! And yes definitely, as always I leave you with a few myriad of gorgeous photos from popular fashion bloggers, and celebrities, style icons for inspiration!

Graphic tees: How to team it right♥

Graphic tees are like a fashion must-have for me. I practically live in them, refusing to get out of them even when I have to dress up for a night out. They are such a versatile piece in your wardrobe and over the years I have figured out ways to dress them up or down according to the occasion. I believe no one could be too old to sport a tee, it just needs to be styled appropriately. In my humble opinion, imagination and fashion goes hand in hand. It is the element of creativity that adds cheer to our wardrobe.
Here is the basic idea behind how I style my graphic tees, and I promise you will never feel like getting out of them evvvaaaaaa, like seriously …..

  1. Graphic tee and pencil skirt

Pencil skirts are an easy way to dress up the humble graphic tee. Simply tuck it in your skirt, add a chunky necklace and heels, and there you have it- a perfect dressy outfit, perfect for a night out or even a first date.

2. Graphic tee and structured Blazer

Pair your favorite tee with a structured blazer and work this look even on casual Fridays at office.

3.Graphic tee with basic leggings

Leggings+Graphic tee, heaven on earth! Can’t think of a more comfy combo. Rock this outfit for an airport chic look or throw in a pair of heels for that extra oomph.

4. Graphic tee with boyfriend jeans

French phrases are so in vogue at the moment and what better way to say “Love conquers all”.. I absolutely love boyfriend jeans and with graphic tees they become a match made in heaven. Need I say more…

5. Graphic tee grunge look

The 90’s grunge look is the look for the season, become a grunge beauty with this combo

I hope you liked my way of styling the graphic tee, and that you will give them a try. Do post your recreations on facebook, twitter or instagram and please do tag me, I would absolutely love to see them.
