TIGI Bed Head “After Party” Review ♥

Hello Angels,

I know I know its been fairly long since I’ve been here, but what can I do, I guess I’m just a lazy a**. There I said it, THE TRUTH is out there now, off my chest. 🙂

Coming to the review, TIGI was kind enough to send this product to me for review, after using it several times, I seriously am in LOOOOOVE with this product. Let me break it down for you.

1-IMG_3124

Price: Rs 1000/- for 100ml

I adore the packaging, the bottle is plastic in a neon pink color. It comes with a pump dispenser, which is extremely convenient to use.

Here is a list of the ingredients from the company’s website:

  • Dimethiconol – Imparts shine and body
  • Propylene Glycol – Conditions and moisturizes hair
  • Mica – Enhances shine
  • Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil – Provides gloss
  • Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163) – Enhances shine

And here is what the product claims:

The perfect party favor. After-Party hair creme for silky, smooth, shiny, healthy looking hair. Control the funky flyaways and silk-ify your hair.

My Take on the product:

First thing you notice is the fragrance, it smells amaaazing, I don’t know how to describe but it just smells really nice. Then i just spread it on my palms and then work it on towel-dried hair. I feel, it works better on wet hair, rather than dried. As soon as I apply it, my hair instantly feels soft and silky. Then I usually blow dry, and then flat-iron or curl it. The end result is awesome!! My hair feels soft, manageable, the flyaways are tamed and the flat-ironing or the curls last much longer.

Pros:

  • Packaging is cute and the pump is makes it easy to use.
  • Smells amazing
  • Does what it says on the packaging
  • Makes hair soft and silky
  • Prolongs hair styling
  • Really tames frizzy hair
  • No parabens

Cons:

  • Can’t think of any, except that availability might be an issue for some

Overall Rating: A+

I have two dogs (a Labrador retriever and a Pug), a “talking” parrot, and 3 pairs of fish. So when I was contacted by Heads Up for Tails, I was eagerly waiting for a collaboration. I have heard tons about their store in Saket and online, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on some stuff for my poochies.

So I got two doggie bandanas, a rope toy (which my labrador adores), and a cute note pad for myself. Here’s how my loves looked all dressed up:

My Lab just can’t seem to let his toy go. 🙂 All the products are of extremely good quality and are very durable. The shipping to takes very minimal time. You should definitely give them a shot.

If you love to get something cute for your pooch this season you should definitely check out Heads Up For Tails, they do awesome personalized stuff as well. As for all the Dilliwalas, you can also drop into their store.

Tips on Under Eye Care by Dr. Jamuna Pai

Renowned aesthetic physician and author, Dr. Jamuna Pai shares essential Under Eye Care tips in her premium skin and hair care guide, ‘No One Has To Know.’ Dr.Pai explains what dark circles are and how one’s lifestyle plays havoc with their under eye skin. She explains how the same can be prevented and treated.

eye-cream1

Dark circles-

Dark under-eye circles are due to the oxidizing of haemoglobin which begins in the capillaries, around the delicate skin around the eyes. It is quite possible that capillaries all over one’s body are leaking small amounts of blood all the time. But the reason dark under-eye circles are so apparent is that the skin around the eyes is some of the thinnest, most delicate skin of the body. The capillaries are much closer to the surface of the skin there.

How dark circles can be prevented-

It always helps to treat the reason which causes the problem. Correction of one’s lifestyle patterns, if that is the reason, holds prime importance. Many a times it is because of lifestyle abuse-like late-nights, erratic working hours, using computer for long hours, disturbed sleep patterns and most importantly stress. Lack of sleep contributes to stress hormones like cortisol being increased, a known cause of health problems and swelling under the eyes causing dark circles. Consciously making attempts to reduce stress or the contributory components also contributes to better sleep. Thus, relaxation should be increased not only for its own sake, but as a direct attempt to reduce stress so that more restful sleep follows and thereby results in lessening of the dark circles.

Besides that, one can use ointments rich in Kojic acid, lactic acid, arbutin at night and layer it with a good amount of moisturizer. The use of sunscreen regularly and intake of supplements of Vitamin C and antioxidants are a must.

Recommended Treatments –

There are various AHA peels which are effective in rejuvenating skin around the eyes by exfoliating damaged upper layers of skin to reveal new, healthier skin and lessening the dark circles. Laser resurfacing and intense pulse light treatments are other good options as they can reduce or eliminate the appearance of prominent veins and capillaries. These treatments have to be repeated every 4- 6 weeks to maintain the results.

Recommended Products-

A number of creams are available in the market which can lighten the dark circles.  They include lightening agent like Vitamin C, kojic acid, arbutin, azelic acid.  Treat the skin while sleeping by applications of these agents overnight . Amongst the homemade treatments one should try natural eye refreshers like a chilled slice of cucumber kept for around 10 to 15 minutes or a raw potato slice cooled in a refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes does help when done on regular basis. Dip cotton balls in rose water and place it on your eyes for 10-15 minutes every day.

Moisturising the under eye area is the most important thing for eye care. Likewise, using lubricated non medicated eye drops ensure that the eyes are always fresh and do not feel tired.

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick Review & Swatches: Orange Lion & Fuchsia Flare♥

Hello guys!

In honor of International Lipstick day, I am reviewing the Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in Orange Lion & Fuchsia Flare.

IMG_3005

Product description on the company website:

Maybelline New York launches 32 new lipstick shades with the most stunning hues of red, pink, brown and mauve. They are vibrant moisture rich shades to suit all Indian skin tones. Enriched with ultra-care hydrating formula which gives your lips all day hydration. They are anti-oxidant and and heat resistant, which guarantees color integrity and does not even fade in extreme heat and humidity. Are you ready to show off your colorful sides?

Here’s why you will love it:

  • Enriched with ultra-care hydrating formula
  • 32 vibrant moisture rich shades
  • Lip color doesn’t fade in extreme heat and humidity
  • Shades to suit all Indian skin tones
  • Price: Rs 299/-

My take on the product:

These lipsticks have been around for a few months now, I hadn’t tried them earlier, so when Maybelline contacted me about expressing my thoughts on these lipsticks, I was pretty excited. Being completely honest, if they wouldn’t have sent it, I wouldn’t have picked these up for myself. I am a MAC lipstick addict and I believe nothing comes anywhere close to their lipsticks.

As mentioned, this range has around 32 shades, with various color families, red, pink, brown and mauve. I received two shades: Fuchsia Flare & Orange Lion. Given a choice, I would’ve gone for the same colors.

IMG_3010

IMG_3011

IMG_3013

Orange Lion: This is a gorgeous shade of orange, very on trend at the moment. But don’t be scared of the brightness, it is very sheer, compared to Fuchsia Flare. I like it for the same fact, that it is sheer; anything darker and I would’ve been scared to bits on trying it on. Very moisturizing, feels great on the lips; almost like a tinted lip balm. A great day time lipstick, would look great with lots of shimmery bronzer!  This is how it looks on me.

IMG_3023

Fuchsia Flare: This again is my-kinda-shade, gloriously pink. I mean, which girl doesn’t love PINK! In contrast to its counterpart, Orange Lion, this one is extremely pigmented. One swipe and you get beautiful opaque color. One downside though, it stains your lips! Some people wouldn’t mind it, but I personally don’t like that part. I am not a fan of lipstains and do not like my lipstick to stain either. Overall it is again very similar to the other one, hydrating and good color payoff. Here’s how this one looks on me

IMG_3026

Pros:

  • Pocket friendly
  • Chic packaging
  • Very moisturizing on lips; no need of separate lipbalm
  • Opaque color (Fuchsia Flare)
  • Wide color range
  • Easily available

Cons:

  • Stains the lips
  • Not a fan of the smell

Overall rating: A

Their site is extremely simple to use, simply select the product & then it asks you to enter your address & then you can simply select your payment option from Cash on Delivery (COD) or online payment. I placed the order on Friday & was surprised to have it delivered the very next day (practically less than 24 hours) !!!!! How awesome is that!!!!! (I stay in Delhi, btw) 1-IMG_2932   It came wrapped up in a plastic bag with an invoice attached outside. Here is how the product looked inside: 1-IMG_2934   The bag came wrapped in a dust bag, which makes it easier to store the bag when it’s not in use. 1-IMG_2936 1-IMG_2940 Here are some pics of the bag itself, I know I know, I am such a show off 😉 1-IMG_2939-001 Overall, my experience with them was beyond amazing. Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil Review & Demo ♥

Hello loves,

I can’t stop myself from writing a review from my recent Sephora visit, the one where I had a beauty emergency 😉

I will be reviewing the Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil today.

Price: Rs. 800/- for 190 ml or 6.4 fl oz.

There has been a current rage about using oils on your face for moisturizing, removing makeup, etc. Following the rage, I thought of trying the Clarins Lotus Face treatment oil on my OILY  face. So I picked up a sample from the Clarins counter. Yes, I know I sound crazy using oil on my oily skin, but let me tell you it is Amaaaaaaaazing!! Thinking of purchasing the full-size bottle.

Coming back to the review, I was really fascinated by the the whole oil concept so I picked it up. IMG_2882

This product has a tag line “Nothing Stays on” , and that is definitely true. Here is an ingredient list. I hope its legible. Taking a picture here was a challenge.

IMG_2885

The product comes in a simple and functional packaging, with a pump. What I did was, that I squirted two pumps on my hand and started to massage it on my face. It feels like any other oil. Then, I wet my hands and started massaging my face again, and I was really shocked to see that this oil magically turns into a lotion!! I just massaged this lotion on my eyes, face and lips. Then I washed it with lukewarm water, and viola, everything was gone. No makeup remover ever made my skin looking so clean. It was incredible. All my eye makeup, including eyeliner on my waterline, completely disappeared.

I tried to give you a demo of how good it is at removing makeup. Here I have some waterproof eyeliner, waterproof mascara, lip stain, regular lipsticks & cream blush.

IMG_2887

Here with 2 pumps of the product. This looks like I burned my hand, GROSS!! Anything for the sake of a demo!!

IMG_2888

It totally removed everything even before I added water to it. Now adding water to it, turns the oil into a lotion and completely removes everything.

IMG_2889

This makeup remover is very moisturizing, it does not dry out the skin at all. But  it does leave a slight oily feeling later, that’s why I use my Clarins face wash after using this to remove any oil residue. But I guess, dry skin girlies can skip that.

The only downside I feel is, that you cannot use cold water to rinse this off. The first day I used it, I used cold water and the oil just won’t come off. But warm water removes it without any hassle. Just a small pointer there.

Pros:

  • Interesting concept.
  • Does what it says on the bottle. Nothing stays on!! and I mean NOTHING!!!!!!!
  • Has a mild fragrance. Nothing very overpowering.
  • I find it decently priced compared to a few high-end makeup removers who do a similar job.
  • Doesn’t dry out the skin.
  • Didn’t break me out.

Cons:

  • Have to use only warm water to rinse it out afterwards. But this doesn’t bother me much.
  • Available only at Sephora counters.

Summing up, this product has become my HG makeup remover for now.  Give it a try! It won’t disappoint you.

xoxo,

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter: Review♥

Hello my fellow Glam victims,

The most beautiful makeup of a woman is passion. But cosmetics are easier to buy.

― Yves Saint-Laurent

We struggle with some beauty issues everyday. For me, these issues keep changing every month. This month I have been constantly bugged with dry hands & feet. I know, I know, I should moisturize, but when I wake up in the morning I am in such a rush that I honestly don’t have the time. *lame excuse*

So, I thought to myself, enough is enough, I should get a good body lotion. After scanning all the beauty product isles at the mall, I decided to visit The Body Shop, and I came across their Body butters. Almost every blogger or YouTube guru I follow, literally considers them as their Holy Grail, and I thought of giving it a go. Now, let me warn you the selection of the variant isn’t easy. There were so many to choose from, coconut, satsuma, olive, pink grapefruit, aloe, strawberry, and the list goes on…

After being lost in the fragrance of each of these, I finally settled on Satsuma. It is the most amazing smell of oranges that just spells summer every minute.

What the website says?

This rich and creamy Body Butter is a feast for the skin. It melts straight in to leave skin feeling soft and smooth. It contains Community Fair Trade shea butter and smells of fresh satsuma. 24-hour hydration Great for normal to dry skin Fresh satsuma scent.

1-IMG_2848

1-IMG_2849

Price: Rs. 745/- for 200 ml in India,  $10 in the US (there is a sale right now).

The Body Butter comes in a tub, which is functional and pretty. But I just can’t get over the amazing fragrance.

The texture of this product is exactly like its name, butter, it is smooth & luxurious.

1-IMG_2851

I usually apply it before bed, slathering it generously all over my arms & legs. Sometimes I also use it after I shower in the morning. It does a pretty decent job in keep my hands & feet hydrated without being too oily or sticky. it is absorbed into the skin fairly quickly.

1-IMG_28521-IMG_2853

My skin feels nourished, moisturized & luxurious for hours. I love how my skin feels when I wake in the morning & the smell still lingers.

The Body Shop follows the community fair trade policy and therefore source their products from all over the world, to help community trade. All of their products are Paraben free. Here is a list of ingredients for reference:

1-IMG_2850

Pros of The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter:

  • It smells amazing, I just can’t seem to get over that, and lasts for hours.
  • Paraben free.
  • Hydrates & moisturizes the skin for 8 hours+
  • The packaging is nice & easy to use.
  • A lot of variants to choose from, if you don’t fancy smelling like an orange. 🙂

Cons of The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter:

  • Could seem expensive for a body butter.
  • Can’t think of any more cons.

So far, this product has worked really well, and has lived up to its claims, and I totally think it is holy-grail material. I, however, want to try the other variants as well.

Final Verdict: A++

Have you tried this product yet? Share your thoughts.
